David Patterson Governor of the State of New York on Tuesday that U.S. government agencies in the state would stop buying bottled water, in a move aimed at the rationalization of expenditures and the fight against global warming.

Paterson signed an executive order that gradually reduce the state spending money on the purchase of various forms of bottled water for staff in government agencies in the state.

The bodies will be provided alternative sources containing tap water.

Patterson said at a news conference, "taxpayers spent billions of dollars to ensure our supply of clean water for drinking ... if we are doing this huge investment .. Vingbe us to reap the benefits and use of this water."

The governor's office said it was not immediately clear how much this would change, because each body of water to buy their own.

Paterson's office said that in the United States uses manufacturers of plastic water bottles, 17 million barrels of oil a year, they are more than 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide pollutants.
